THE INTERNATIONAL LYMPHOEDEMA FRAMEWORK (ILF) ITS AIMS AND ACTIVITIES

The ILF is a UK based charity whose main aim is to improve the care of people with Lymphoedema worldwide.
Its main principles are:
• Patients should always be at the heart of the Framework Projects.
• Only a collaborative and multidisciplinary partnership between all stakeholders,
recognised as experts, can lead to an improvement in the management of lymphoedema.
• Improving the management of lymphoedema is a dynamic process requiring ongoing
research and implementation into practice.
• International collaboration is essential.
• Framework partners are united in their vision to change how lymphoedema is diagnosed,
treated and reimbursed around the globe.
National Lymphoedema Frameworks and partners
• Linking the local - national – global levels: Driving change through community engagement.
• Eleven countries embrace the framework methodology and spirit:
• Increased interest in forming new frameworks, the most recent in process being Singapore,
Argentina, China
• ILF is the dedicated global platform, offering a shared vision for all lymphoedema
organisations.
• All frameworks share the same ILF definition of standards of care.
Current projects include
• Annual conference
- Including patients’ activities and children’s camp
• Interaction with the national frameworks
• Research studies and projects:
- Opportunity for partnership with industry and support for innovation
- LIMPRINT, observational study etc.
• Children’s Lymphoedema: Children’s projects and children’s camps
• Journal of Lymphoedema and publications
• Education group: Standards for undergraduate education
